Tobernalt Holy Well
Tobernalt Holy Well is a place of peace, tranquility and reflection located close to Lough Gill and a 25 minute drive from Mount Edward Lodge. In ancient times the pagan festival Lughnasa was celebrated here.
In the 5th century when Christianity came to Ireland The Well became christened and festival Lughnasa was replaced with Garland Sunday. During penal times mass was celebrated here and you can see a replica of the penal cross as well as the original mass alter.
