Yeats Country
Explore the beautiful countryside and the Wild Atlantic Coastline of North Sligo made famous by the poet W.B.Yeats. The route takes in Yeats Grave, Lissadell House, Raghly Harbour, Spanish Armada wreck and breathtaking views of Benbulben Mountain. This 40km route is suitable for young and old alike. Allow a minimum of 3 to 4 hours for a nice leisurely cycle. Excellent Pubs and Restaurants on the route.
Gleniff Horseshoe & Mullaghmore Harbour
The Gleniff Horseshoe is a closed loop on-road cycle route along the base of Benbulben Mountain with some of the most spectacular scenery that Sligo has to offer. You will also visit an acient Megalithic site, Creevykeel Court Tomb, at Cliffony which dates back to 4000 BC.
The Mullaghmore Headland forms the second half of the route with its harbour, extensive beach and amazing Atlantic Coastline its sure to take your breath away. This 30km route is suitable for young and old alike, but there are some hills.
Allow a minimum of 3 to 4 hours for a nice leisurely cycle. Excellent Pubs and Restaurants on the route.
Glencar Lake & Waterfall
This lovely short cycle to Glencar Lake & Waterfall is sure to please all the family. There are beautiful picnic areas beside the lake and a track road up Benbulben for those who fancy a good walk. Pop in to Sean McSharry in Glencar Spring Water enroute to say hello and get some free water for your journey. Allow a minimum of 1 to 2 hours for a nice leisurely cycle.
Strandhill & Carrowmore Tombs
Strandhill is world renowned for its surfing but this beautiful headland has a lot more to offer. Seaweed baths, Cafes, Bars, Restaurants, Surf Schools to name but a few. The route takes in Strandhill beach, Carrowmore Toombs, Queen Maeves Cairn and even some family fun at Woodville Farm. This 45km route has something for everybody. Allow 3 to 4 hours for a nice leisurely cycle.
Rosses Point & Beach
Rosses Point is a small but beautiful harbour on the Wild Atlantic Way. It boasts miles of sandy beaches, a Fishing Harbour, Yacht Club, Links Golf Course, Sea Food Restaurants, bars and Hotels. This is great cycle for those who fancy spending time “relaxing” on the beach for the day. This 20km route is an easy cycle and would normally take 1 to 2 hours.
Lough Gill Cycle Loop
This spectacular cycle starting close to Sligo Town takes in an amazing amount of sights in one day. Dromahair Village, Parkes Castle, Slish Wood, Dooney Rock and the Holy Well to name but a few. Why not stop along the way and enjoy a dip in the lake. This 40km on road cycle route is an easy cycle for all the family. Allow 3 to 4 hours.
Ox Mountains & The Sligo Way
South Sligo has so much to offer the tourist. Miles of Wild Atlantic Coastline, beaches, harbours, the Ox Mountains, Lough Talt, Aughris Head and some spectacular beaches. This 47km route is quite spectacular but not for the faint hearted. Excellent Bars and Reataurants on route.
