From Streedagh Beach, Strandhill, Bundoran to Rossnowlagh and Lislarrly which is only 5 mins drive from Mount Edward Lodge you will find great surfing waves. Fishing/Boat Trips Fishing is available from the rocks at Streedagh Point where you can fish Pollock and Mackerel mainly. Raugly Harbour only 5 mins drive from us has a scenic small fishing harbour where you can fish with local fishermen. Mullaghmore then only 10mins drive away attracts fisherman from all over the world as the bay is home to a variety of fish species including Coalfish, Cod, Dogfish, Flounder, Conger, Mackerel, Monkfish, Mullet, Pollock, Whiting & Wrass to name a few. Whether you enjoy Deep Sea Angling, Wreck & Reef Fishing or Big Game Angling these can all be availed of here.
You can also avail of boat trips to Innismurray Island from Mullaghmore Pier, Raugly Pier or Rosses Point with local fishermen. Inishmurray Island was home to 102 people until they left for the mainland in 1948. Today, Inishmurray Island contains the most complete remains of an early Irish monastic settlement as well as the ruins of its nineteenth century houses. It is home to many fantastic plants and wildlife. Boat Trips/Fishing trips can be booked through Mount Edward Lodge and packed lunches provided if required.

Ben Bulben & Hill Walking Steep sided and flat topped Limestone hills make up the striking Dartry Mountains and Benbulben which is visible from our guesthouse. These mountains hug the coastline and make wonderful viewing all year around. There are many tracks and roads nestled in amongst this mountain range that are just waiting to be discovered.
Situated about 4 miles west of Sligo Town on whats known locally as the Strandhill Peninsula, the unmistakable shape of Knocknarea, stands 1078 feet high, completely dominating the skyline to the West of Sligo Town. On the summit of Knocknarea lies the 40 foot high stone cairn, the burial place of the legendary Queen Maeve of Connaught.
Beaches & Watersports Streedagh Strand is only 5 mins drive from Mount Edward Lodge where you can take a leisurely walk along the 2 miles of golden strand or you can be more adventureous a try some of the Watersports. Surfing, Kite-Surfing, Canoeing and sailing all very popular at Streedagh.
Mullaghmore & Rosses Point are also only 10mins drive away where you can avail of fishing in these small fishing villages and every range of watersports too.
The famous surfing beach of Strandill is only 15mins drive away. Standhill also has its famous Seaweed baths which are very relaxing and popular.
